Welcome to Grade 7 Science!

Forces & Structures

There are three major types of structures: frame, shell and mass.

1) A frame structure has a skeleton of strong materials which is covered with other materials for protection and support.

     Example:bicycle

2) A shell structure is empty on the inside with a thin outer layer which provides support.

     Examples: igloo, turtle shell

3) A mass structure may be a solid form or is created by piling or putting together objects with little space between.

     Example: sand castle, mountain
